Domain Name FAQ

Q. I already have a domain name can you host for me?

A. Yes. Just select a hosting package and check the "I own this domain ..." box when ordering. Then have your name servers changed to the Remote Web DNS servers.

ns1.remoteweb.co.uk
ns2.remoteweb.co.uk

Q. How do I change the DNS server for my domain name?

A. You will need to ask whoever currently administers your domain to change your name servers. This can sometimes be done through your registry online domain name control panel.

Q. Can you register a domain name for me?

A. Yes. We will register your domain on your behalf and set it up to work with our hosting services. You are named as the registrant of the domain and have control of it.
Please note that it will take up to 48 hours from registration for your domain name to propagate around the internet and work correctly.

Q. Can I just register a domain name with you and host somewhere else.

A. Sorry our current domain registering system is not automated, so domain names can only be purchased in addition to a hosting package.
There is an admin fee (£10) if you want to transfer hosting to a different hosting provider after we have already registered the domain name for you.

Q. Can I alter my DNS records?

A. This option is only given to users of our Advance Hosting package in the control panel. As changes to the DNS records can disable your web site and email's.

Q. How can I tell if a domain name is available ?

A. Simply use our Domain name search to check for availability.

Q. What domain names can I transfer to you ?

A. We can host any domain name in the world and you can transfer any domain name to us free of charge by asking your current provider to change your nameservers to ns1.remoteweb.co.uk and ns2.remoteweb.co.uk
